After 16 years of bringing culinary and theatrical talent to locals, The
Capital City Players started off their 2007 season with a new venue. As
Jefferson City’s only dinner theater company, the group has
discovered that entertainment is best served up in style.

The renovated Shikles Center, located at 1200 Linden Drive, now
houses the performances, with seating for 140-180 people. The 18-by-
32-foot stage is complete with theatrical lighting and sounds systems,
and the building now features carpeting for the auditorium and lobby,
round tables and chairs for seating, stage curtains and acoustical
treatments for the walls, tablecloths and napkins for fine dining, a new
double-door entrance, and a technical booth complete with an
electrical upgrade.

“This has been a dream of ours for a long time, and it’s been very
exciting to watch this develop,” said Capital City Players President Rob
Crouse. “Before we had our home at Shikles, we were at the mercy of
the hotel schedules for performance space and timing.”

The 2007 season consists of eight to 12 performances of eight popular
Broadway musicals and plays. Past and current performances have
included Bleacher Bums in March, Honky Tonk Angels in April, The
Odd Couple in May and Dearly Departed in June. July’s performance
schedule includes the annual Shakespeare in the Park show featuring
Loves Labours Lost. I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change takes
the stage in August. Performances for the next season, starting in
November, will be announced in August.

Tickets for each performance are $30, including dinner or lunch.
Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m.
and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Matinee performances begin at 1:30 p.m., with
doors opening at 12 p.m. and lunch at 12:30 p.m.

Every performance includes a full buffet meal catered by Donita’s
Cakes and Catering, Inc. Patrons are allowed to bring alcoholic
beverages if they choose.
